Extra-curricular activities

Beyond the classroom

At Richmond Park Schools, we believe that teamwork, resilience, self-improvement, focus and discipline can all be developed through music, sport, the arts, outdoor activities and expeditions. Whilst we strive for academic excellence for all our students, we also understand that learning goes beyond the classroom.

All of our schools offer a broad range of extra-curricular activities and clubs during and outside school hours to ensure each child has the opportunity to explore new skills and improve existing ones.

Each school has its own programme of clubs and activities it offers to the students. Below is a flavour of what is on offer in our schools:

We celebrate all genres of music, and encourage students to learn and to be involved with making music. Studies show that music ignites all areas of child development and skills needed to succeed in school: intellectual ability, social and emotional dexterity, motor and language skills, and overall literacy. Music helps the body and the mind work together in unison. From the very youngest of our students in the pre-schools to the teenage students working on their diploma in the high schools, we ensure that music is readily available across the board.

Sport is an integral part of life at Richmond Park Schools. Our schools offer a broad range of different sporting activities as extra-curriculars so that students have the opportunity to find one or more sports which they enjoy.

Whether team-based or individual, sports are a great for children that provide a variety of benefits other than physical activity. Participation in sports can help build self-esteem and confidence, can motivate children to excel academically and help build social skills.

Art and Drama

Children naturally love art – painting, drawing, making music, the theatre, but the Arts can offer so much more than simple pleasure. Through art, students learn to think creatively, with an open mind. They learn to observe and describe, analyse and interpret. They learn to express feelings, with or without words. We offer a range of creative activities through our extra-curricular programmes within the Richmond Park Schools.

IT and coding

Richmond Park Schools want to offer all our students the opportunity to stay one step ahead by allowing them to take extra-curricular classes such as ‘Learning to Code’.

Some of our primary school students have been taking part in robotic coding competitions, programming the robots to complete actions using the programming language Scratch.
